OI 9.3 Beta – System Editor ++

The OpenInsight 9.3 beta now has a healthy number of developers who have signed up for and downloaded the beta software, and I’d like to thank all of you for your time and feedback on this new release.

I realise that not everyone has the time to spend working with beta software these days, especially as the pressure on us all to deliver more and more increases.  I also appreciate that, for one reason and another, some of you have dropped off of OI WORKS (a requirement to be included on the beta program) but you still like to keep abreast of developments within the toolset.  For this reason, I plan to run a series of postings over the next week or so that will highlight some of the new features and enhancements in this new release.

I’ll start today with the System Editor ++, a part of the toolset that many of you spend countless hours in.  The readme includes 29 bulleted enhancements, new features and the usual bug fixes.  However, just a few of the
highlights include:

  1. Customisable Tooltips.
  2. Improved Scintilla Speed.
  3. Context Menu improvements, with Add and Remove Favourites.
  4. Updated error printing.
  5. Easier to use Commuter Module Generator.
  6. Send As Email – Users can send an entity as an email.
  7. Execute Code Option.
  8. Expanded ‘Delete’ capabilities.
  9. Improved hiding of Editor items.
  10. New status Messaging.
  11. Double click on tab to open a new stored procedure.

The 9.3 beta readme includes more details about the above items and the remaining items that I have not noted above.  In addition, it also includes many of the new features, enhancements and fixes throughout the 9.x releases.  Please drop me a line if you would like to receive a copy of the full 9.3 beta readme file.
